This was always going to be a tight game with it being 2nd v 3rd in the league.

After drinks the home side reached 108 before losing their fourth wicket. Gowerton scored a few more runs after this but at the same time they lost wickets and at the end of their innings the home side were bowled out for 153 off 38.4 overs.

Pontardawe’s run chase started off slowly but surly reaching 25 runs in the tenth over before losing their first wicket when Dale Williams was caught. The away side lost a couple more wickets and at drinks were on 54-3 still needing 100 runs to win from the final 20 overs. After drinks a few more runs were put on the board when Mark Williams (21) and Jason Rourke (12) scored quick runs before both being caught. Pontardawe got it down to 6 runs needed off the last two balls when Jeff Hapgood went for a big shot but unfortunately was caught on the boundary and was out for 38 meaning Gowerton won the game by 5 runs. A great knock by Jeff who kept Pontardawe in the game but fell just short in the end with the home side winning a very entertaining game.
