About

Cymraeg

7 Day Sport is a sports journalism platform covering Neath Port Talbot and Swansea. Our mission is to promote and support grassroot sports in the Swansea and Neath Port Talbot area through sports journalism and by doing so, increase participation.

We are an independent journalism, social enterprise, based in Pontardawe, in the Swansea Valley.

We rely heavily on contributors from the local community. Whether you want to let us know about upcoming events, tell us about a personal sporting achievement or try your hand at sports journalism and write your own feature, we want to hear from you! So please get in touch. Diversity is important to us and we encourage stories that cover all gender, ethnicity, age, abilities etc.

We believe that sports clubs are invaluable social hubs, providing opportunities to engage with the community. Individuals can meet new people, participate in social inclusion opportunities and develop a sense of belonging. Therefore we see participation as anything from playing sports, supporting local teams, to engaging in the many voluntary roles available.

Aims and Objectives

By reporting on local sporting news and providing up to date information and details about sports available in the area we hope to;

  • Increase sports participation across Swansea and Neath Port Talbot.
  • To increase participation amongst ‘inactive’ members of the community.
  • Improve physical health, mental health and emotional wellbeing through active participation in sport.
  • Increase social inclusion through sports participation, volunteering opportunities within sports club. Also through our own volunteer programme.
  • Help sports clubs increase their revenue through higher levels of participation. Promoting the use of sports clubs as social venues. Thus ensuring more clubs are able to keep running.
  • Make sport more inclusive and easily accessible. Promoting a wide range of sports in our local area that are suitable for all ages and abilities. Including both paid and free of charge sporting activities.
  • Give individuals an opportunity to learn new skills and develop existing ones through our volunteering programme. Leading to increased employment opportunities.

Amdanom

Mae 7 Day Sport yn llwyfan newyddiaduraeth chwaraeon sy’n cynnwys Castell-nedd Port Talbot ac Abertawe. Ein cenhadaeth yw hyrwyddo a chefnogi chwaraeon ar lawr gwlad yn ardal Abertawe a Chastell-nedd Port Talbot drwy newyddiaduraeth chwaraeon a thrwy wneud hynny, cynyddu cyfranogiad.

Rydym yn fenter gymdeithasol annibynnol ym maes newyddiaduraeth, sydd wedi’i lleoli ym Mhontardawe, yng Nghwm Tawe.

Rydym yn dibynnu ar gefnogaeth ein gwirfoddolwyr a chyfranwyr o’r gymuned leol. Mae amrywiaeth yn bwysig i ni ac rydym yn annog straeon sy’n ymdrin â phob rhyw, ethnigrwydd, oedran, gallu ayb.

Bydd gennym brosiectau cyffrous yn dechrau yn 2020. Gan gynnwys ‘Menywod a Merched mewn chwaraeon’, gyda’r nod o fynd i’r afael â’r anghydraddoldeb rhwng y rhywiau mewn newyddiaduraeth chwaraeon a ‘Phrosiect Newyddiaduraeth Chwaraeon Pobl Dduon a Lleiafrifoedd Ethnig’ sy’n canolbwyntio ar gynyddu’r sylw a roddir i bobl dduon a lleiafrifoedd ethnig sy’n cymryd rhan mewn chwaraeon.

Credwn fod clybiau chwaraeon yn ganolfannau cymdeithasol amhrisiadwy, sy’n cynnig cyfleoedd i ymgysylltu â’r gymuned. Gall unigolion gyfarfod pobl newydd, cymryd rhan mewn cyfleoedd cynhwysiant cymdeithasol a datblygu ymdeimlad o berthyn. Felly, rydym yn ystyried cyfranogiad fel unrhyw beth o chwarae chwaraeon, cefnogi timau lleol, i gymryd rhan yn y swyddi gwirfoddol niferus sydd ar gael.

Nodau ac Amcanion

Drwy adrodd ar newyddion chwaraeon lleol a rhoi’r wybodaeth ddiweddaraf am chwaraeon sydd ar gael yn yr ardal yr ydym yn gobeithio;

  • Cynyddu’r nifer sy’n cymryd rhan mewn chwaraeon drwy Abertawe a Chastell-nedd Port Talbot.
  • Cynyddu cyfranogiad ymysg aelodau ‘anweithgar’ o’r gymuned.
  • Gwella iechyd corfforol, iechyd meddwl a lles emosiynol drwy gymryd rhan mewn chwaraeon.
  • Cynyddu cynhwysiant cymdeithasol drwy gymryd rhan mewn chwaraeon, cyfleoedd gwirfoddoli o fewn clwb chwaraeon.
  • Helpu clybiau chwaraeon i gynyddu eu refeniw drwy lefelau uwch o gyfranogiad. Hyrwyddo’r defnydd o glybiau chwaraeon fel lleoliadau cymdeithasol.
  • Gwneud chwaraeon yn fwy cynhwysol ac ar gael yn rhwydd. Hyrwyddo amrywiaeth eang o chwaraeon yn ein hardal leol sy’n addas ar gyfer pob oedran a gallu.
  • Rhoi cyfle i unigolion ddysgu sgiliau newydd a datblygu sgiliau sydd ganddynt eisoes drwy ein rhaglen gwirfoddoli. Gan arwain at fwy o gyfleoedd cyflogaeth.
